The building of Latvian craftsmen’s mutual society in Riga was built in 1902. Soon after, theatre activities began, using the large hall. In total, 5 theatres operated in the building, replacing each other. The requirements were to enlarge the floor space from 5145m2 to 9767m2 and to create 3 public auditoriums with a total of 840 seats (before renovation – 400), 3 new rehearsal auditoriums, actors wing and the underground volume which enabled the realization of the “theatre – home” concept, where everything from set production to theatre performance can be implemented together.
