Updated. On May 7, the winners of the architectural competition for a new passenger and ro-ro cargo terminal of Riga Ropax Terminal were awarded. The London-based architect firm Zaha Hadid Architects won the first prize. The next step in the new terminal’s development is work on the construction design.

1st place (the Winner of the Competition) — BLT000, Zaha Hadid Architects (UK), 463 points, remuneration 18 000 EUR.
2nd place — AIA297, OSAÜHING R-KOSULT (Estonia), 384 points, remuneration 10 000 EUR.
3rd place — PAX305, Berenblum Busch Architects (USA), 356 points, remuneration 7000 EUR.

LLC "Riga Ropax Terminal” announces an open Sketch Design competition for a new passenger and ro-ro cargo terminal. A new passenger terminal would put Riga on the map of European cruise ports, provide modern and environmentally friendly ferry passenger services in Riga, and create new opportunities for developing the ro-ro cargo segment. The new terminal will be located in the southern part of Exportosta, reducing traffic in the city center of Riga and reducing sound and air pollution.
Competition brief and designing programme.
The task of the Competition is to determine the best proposal for the vision of spatial development of the territory of the Riga ROPAX terminal.
The total prize fund of the competition is EUR 65 000,00.
The duration of the competition is from December 15, 2023 to May 15, 2024.
Submission of Sketch Design offers is until 25 March 2024 at 10.00 A.M in Riga, Latvian Association of Architects at Torna Street 11.
