RESULTS
On 17 June 2024, the proposals of International Sketch Design competition for the preservation and development of the values of the Great Cemetery Memorial were revelead. The jury found that the challenge of the competition was very complex and that each proposal had a good solution, but that none of the entries presented a comprehensive vision of all the necessary measures for the competition, and therefore did not award first prize.
2nd place — LOCI2211 by Nemoralis Landscape Architecture, Outofbox Architecture, Purs Konsultācijas; prize 14 000 euros.
3rd place — EBLV1205 by Juul Frost Architects (Denmark); prize 7000 euros.
3rd place — 27LKMU27 by Grupa 93; prize 7000 euros.
Honourable mention — L13K4PI2 by the people and Ainavas izpētes un plānošanas institūts; monetary incentive of 2000 euros.

Riga City State Municipal Agency Riga Monument Agency announces an International Sketch Design competition for the preservation and development of the values of the Great Cemetery Memorial.
The aim of the Competition – to obtain creative ideas and proposals on how to respectfully preserve the burials of the Great Cemetery, its cultural-historical and natural values for future generations, how to implement the sustainable development of the territory and how to use the potential of the existing green infrastructure as a biologically diverse and unique landscape on the European scale, in order to improve the quality of the urban environment and the accessibility of the Great Cemetery to residents and guests of the city of Riga.
The total prize fund of the Competition is EUR 30,000.
The Commissioner offers the interested participants of the competition site visit of the Competition object on March 5 2024, at noon. The interested participants of the competition should apply to take part in the Competition object site visit by sending an application to the e-mail address: [email protected] no later than March 1 2024, at 5.00 p.m.
The deadline for submitting the competition entries has been extended to 7 May 2024 at 5 P.M in Riga, Latvian Association of Architects at Torna Street 11.
